Introducing, "The Roots guitar"
The "Roots guitar" is a trip back to basics. Simply put, it is a guitar as basic as it can be without sacrificing anything that is important to good tone and playability.
It is made from all solid wood, and this wood has the full consideration of the luthier's intuition when assembling the chosen materials into a guitar.
When I started thinking about producing a more affordable guitar, I wanted nothing that would detract from what I consider to be the two most important aspects of good guitars, Playability and tone. so there will not be shortcuts in the material selection or construction, only simplification.
This guitar has very simple appointments.
A simple but attractive top purfling, no back purfling, an unbound fingerboard and headstock and the biggest factor in reducing the cost, a satin finish. I also chose to use my ladder bracing on this "Roots Guitar" for a bit of grit and growl.
Check out the specs below, look at a few pics and see if this might be a guitar for you. If you are interested in having one, just pick up the phone or shoot me an email to get things started.

        The turning of clocks
I met Shaun on a recent trip to Southern California and had the pleasure of a private concert during the recent NAMM show. Needless to say I was amazed at his playing but he didn't sing a lick while trying out my guitars. He did give me a copy of his cd "The Turning of clocks" which I didn't get a chance to listen to for a few days. On checking out of my hotel, I plugged the cd into my player and was completely blown away!!! Song after song just made me feel good. He does a couple of Mississippi John Hurt tunes and he did learn his MJH well, they do sit well very with his own writings. His song writing skills seem to be well beyond his years and his smooth soulful voice sits very comfortably in this music. While the general subject matter of this cd could have been a little dark, he keeps it user friendly and generally uplifting. It makes you want more so I am patiently awaiting his next cd which is in progress right now.
Please check out some of his music on the links above and see what you think. If the music does for you what it does for me, I know you'll want to support Shaun's music with a cd purchase.
